New Hijabi

So this is my proudest accomplishment for 2013!
May Allah give me the guidance and the strength to be istiqamah (to be steadfastness)

New Hijabi

No, its not hard,
When people ask,
"How do you do it?"
I hold my head high,
Smile and sit.
This is what i say
It's a choice i made,
To embrace my religion
To be proud of who i am
To Glorify my deen
To be proud of who I am
Hijab on my head
I want to be seen
To be proud of who i am
"But what made you do it?"
The power of Allah,
The power of dua,
Raise your hands and you will see
It's good for both you and me.

Travelling shoes

All this while I haven't really put much thought on what to wear during my vacation and lately, what I wore, really bothers me. Back then, I just take with me whatever is available in my wardrobe.

I just got back from my first trip out of UK with friends and this trip oh myyyy.. let's just say I was panicking over what to wear compared to anything else. Haha. Will blog about this trip if time permits. Anyway, one of the things that I worried about this trip was shoes!! Yes, of all the things!

I know I needed something comfortable yet still fashionable (not nerdy/boring). How I wish I brought my Chuck Taylor with me but this was a girly trip! So basically, no sneakers.

I wore this Basma flats instead and it was just okay just because they look good in photos! These are made for driving, not walking so I got minor blisters at the end of day 2. I started to believe that no feet can ever survive 10 hours of walking without getting blisters. Haha. However, I like the fact that the soles are quite thick.

Can somebody suggest a good pair of decent flats/moccasins designed for travelling? Are Tod's shoes comfortable?

Burger and Lobster, City

Well, my friend.. I really think this is worth to blog about!
Burger and Lobster!

I was half concentrating on Dr. Bond's lecture.. Airport & Ground Handling can get quite hard to comprehend sometimes! Suddenly Burger & Lobster came to my mind! Wrote a lil note Hasnor and we agreed to go after class!

Off we hopped, Bus no. 4!

Basically, the menu is either burger or lobster! Eh, you can opt for lobster roll you prefer not to dirty your hands! We ordered grilled lobsters and this is how it looks like!

You may enjoy your grilled lobster at these 4 locations!
City, Farringdon, Mayfair and Soho!

Studying in two universities at undergraduate level which one of it is fully sponsored! And basically, living in London without worrying to make ends meet is definitely something that not everyone can have! I'm forever grateful for this opportunity, alhamdulillah ya Allah. Life is great!

Mmmm, yes, when things seems to start looking great, and poof, you just realise, life isn't walking in the park anymore. As much as I love being in London, there are times when I wish I'm in Malaysia instead. I'm getting wedding invitations (lots of them) and none that I can attend. Not a nice feeling at all. Being here too means I will definitely miss seeing my first niece entering the world in March. And in March too, I'm gonna miss the ever great LIMA and someone special is making a big shift in his life.

You see, these kind of things make me feeling gutted. Not saying, living here is a wrong decision, but whatever that I've missed back home is too precious to be missed - that's all I'm saying. It's true that you can't have it all. You gain some, you lose some, people say!

All in all, I believe this is the best and I'm grateful for everything else I have in my life. Alhamdulillah.

Messages I received from my former LIMA boss and Mr Budi recently.

Tatami Kairo, or not?

Tatami Kairo Thong Braided in black

Isn't she a beauty? *sigh*

I'm thinking of getting this Tatami Kairo thong.... well after forking-out-a-whopping-£80 is clearly justified. It's just so ridiculous how much money I'm gonna spend on this; relative to what I earn monthly. Mm, there is a cheaper version of it (here) but than is not much difference that what I already have. :S

I do understand that there are just so many people out there wouldn't approve this whole Birkenstock-look thing but haha, I don't really care that much. Plus it's comfy after all and would be perfect for a summer trip I'm gonna have soon!

It's just the money issue that holds me back! Should I just buy it or well, get on with the old one? How I wish money grows on trees... ssss

p/s: or get dad to pay for it! miahaha

Kuih Cara Manis (in pink!)

You know what, this time of the year is the best time to "ganti puasa". Subuh is around 6am and iftar is before 5pm! Day time is a lot shorter compared to Malaysia. Yay!

And what's a berbuka without kuih Melayu! :D I decided to make kuih cara manis since we just got our mould last week. :) With very limited resources, I tweaked the recipe I found on the internet a little bit to make do with whatever I have. It's so cold outside I don't want to leave house at all.

Well green is so yesterday yo!

2 average-sized eggs
2 cups of plain flour
3 1/2 cups of coconut milk
1/2 tsp of salt
2 pandan leaves
A few drops of red food colouring (the real kuih cara manis should be in green btw!)

How to make it:

1. Blend eggs, flour, pandan leaves, coconut milk, and salt until smooth. I use blender cos it's easier!

2. Add a few drops of red food colouring. Probably about 5 drops. Blend again until the colour has spread evenly.

3. Pour the batter into the sieve with a cup or small jug underneath. I use a measuring cup instead. And now with another spoon, gently press the batter through the sieve. A cup or small jug is used in order to make it easier for you when pouring the batter into the mould later on.

4. Heat the kuih cara mould with low heat. Line it with butter or you can use cooking oil instead.

5. Pour the batter carefully into the mould and add 1/2 tsp of sugar on each kuih.

6. Close the mould. Wait until the batter is not runny anymore and a bit firm and yup it'll turn golden on the edge.

7. Move the mould from the heat and turn it upside down. If it's properly lined, kuih will fall off at ease.

8. Repeat until the batter is finished.

Viola! :D Success! Can somebody marry me already! ;p

LUSH Ocean Salt Review

This is among the first things that I bought when I arrived in London! LUSH facial scrub - Ocean Salt. They have plenty of scrubs/cleansers for you to choose from and for me, I just knew I had to get this one though I would love to try the Herbalism - perhaps soon!

This thingggg urgh is just amazing, you can literally feel the difference in one wash! Bear in mind that the salt can get quite rough on skin for some but for me I think it's perfectly fine because don't worry.. it just melts as you scrub your face. I have sensitive skin and this product doesn't really give me uncomfortable experience and more importantly, this is probably the best skin exfoliator I've ever tried. Goodbye dead skin! Oh, and it doesn't have a strong smell to which I like, just a hint of zesty lime!

Would I repurchase? Yes.

Price: £6.95/100g (RM35) or £12.95/250g (RM65) - the tub seems to last quite long depending on your usage. I use it twice a week; anyhow you can use it daily if you want to! You can use it on other parts of your body too, like the elbows and knees!

All in all, highly recommended.

For more info, head here! LUSH Ocean Salt

p/s: LUSH is one of my favourite stores, it was kinda love at a first "smell" I'd say really. I discovered the brand in Korea 4 years ago.

I recently found that this is a really amazing neck scrub that you would might want to try! Another thing, it can get pretty nasty if gets into your eyes. Just make sure you rinse with lotsa water.

And not just that, I think it's getting too harsh on my skin cos when applying toner or moisturizer, my skin kinda hurts, but it only lasts for about 5 minutes or so. Just to let you know.

First post from London

So, it's been slightly more than two months since I've been living in London and ehem and I'm currently slightly over 40kg! London has been great, never a day passes by without anything significant! I'm loving it to bits!

I'm on exchange programme at City University London, sponsored by Erasmus Mundus to do Aeronautical Engineering but trust me, my modules are mostly Air Transportation. Alhamdulillah, so lucky to be selected!
